Tanzania Gender Assessment (English)

The Tanzania Gender Assessment is led by the World Bank’s Social Sustainability and Inclusion and Human Development practices and offers a holistic overview of the numerous challenges and opportunities facing women in the country. The report draws from desk reviews, stakeholder consultations, rigorous academic literature, household surveys, and international development indicators to outline the persisting gender gaps across the following four key pillars: human endowments, economic opportunities, ownership and control of assets, and women’s voice and agency. The report also provides a series of key policy recommendations to help empower Tanzanian women and bridge persisting gender divides in the country.
