The development objective of Support to Tertiary Education Project for Iraq is to develop institutional capacity in disciplinary areas of tertiary education that support national development priorities. This project has three components. 1) The first component, Developing institutional capacity in disciplinary areas that support national development priority sectors, has the following sub-components: (i) Supporting the development of projects for establishing centers of excellence in national development priority sectors; and (ii) Developing and increasing training capacity and outputs in solar energy. 2) The second component, Strengthening partnerships with the private sector and international institutions for improving graduates’ employability, aims to support Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) to establish a Competitive Fund Program (CFP) to foster partnerships between Tertiary Education Institutions (TEIs) and the private sector and international institutions in addressing graduate employability, equipping students with market-relevant skills such as digital skills and soft skills for future jobs. 3) The third component, project coordination and monitoring, aims for a project implementation unit (PIU) to be established by MoHESR to coordinate and manage day-to-day project implementation operations.
