Cyprus is ranked as the third highest in food waste in Europe, with more than 300kg of food waste per capita every year. Food waste generates severe economic, health, and environmental repercussions: heavily contributes to the emission of greenhouse gases; waste of resources involved in processing, especially water and energy; and severe heath issues for people living near landfills.
