Vanuatu - Climate Resilient Transport Project : Resettlement Plan : Abbreviated Resettlement Action Plan (English)

The development objective of the Climate Resilient Transport Project for Vanuatu is to improve the climate resilience of the recipient's road network, with emphasis on selected project road, and in the event of an eligible crisis or emergency, to provide an immediate response to the eligible crisis or emergency. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) compensation in kind with building materials in types of materials and quantities acceptable to the affected persons at least sufficient to replace lost asset; (2) productive trees will be compensated at the rate of five seedlings to one mature tree; (3) for road realignment, replacement land can be in the form of transfer of land from the previous road alignment (effectively a land swap), provided that the previous road alignment section is contiguous with affected person’s land, is not occupied by other persons, is technically viable and acceptable to the affected person; and (4) adjacent land disturbed by road or drainage works will be restored within seven days.
