The development objective of the South-West Roads : Western Europe-Western China International Transit Corridor Project for Kazakhstan is to improve transport efficiency along road sections from the border of Aktobe and Kyzylorda Oblasts to the border of South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl Oblasts, improve road management, and increase traffic safety in Kazakhstan. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) cash compensation equal to market value of two livestock grazing years; (2) land compensation with provision to the ownership the equal land plots; (3) compensation of the full market value or at the request of the owner the provision of structure in exchange; if the value of provided structure is lower than alienated, the owner is paid the difference in price; and (4) cash compensation at local commercial rental rates for duration of use.
