The development objective of the Emergency Electricity Access Project is to improve access to electricity in rural and peri-urban areas within the Republic of Yemen. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: ensure proper use of ladders and scaffolds by trained employees, use of fall prevention devices; including safety belt and lanyard travel limiting devices to prevent access to fall hazard area, or fall protection devices such as full body harnesses used in conjunction with shock absorbing lanyards or self-retracting inertial fall arrest devices attached to fixed anchor point or horizontal life-lines; provide workers in high noise areas with earplugs or earmuffs; ensure availability of first aid box; provide employees with access to toilets and potable drinking water; train workers regarding the handling of hazardous materials; and store hazardous materials as per the statutory provisions of Manufactures, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemicals Rules (1989), under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
