The Amagasaki - Ritto Expressway Project, part of the Kobe - Nagoya Expressway, comprises a 71.5 Km section, whose works include the construction of a four-lane, limited access highway, by-passing all towns en route. Steel bridges, and concrete viaducts will be built to cross several large rivers, and adjacent flood plains, and, viaducts will also be built over urban districts, and areas zoned for future urbanization. In addition, several large tunnels will be built in the foothill country, and a substantial number of overpasses will cross intersecting roads, and railroad lines. The estimated construction costs amount to U$S 1.1 million per Km, and, the requested loan of U$S 40 million would cover thirty one percent of the estimated total costs of the project, with construction costs alone estimated at thirty seven percent.
