The objectives of the Kenya Water and Sanitation Service Improvement Project are to: (a) increase access to reliable, affordable and sustainable water supply and sanitation services; and (b) to improve the water and wastewater services. The purpose of this restructuring paper is to seek your approval for a level two restructuring of the projects. As part of the restructuring, it is to extend the closing date of the original credit, International Development Association (IDA), by one (1) year from December 31, 2012 to December 31, 2013. The project objectives continue to be achievable, and the performance of the borrower and implementing agencies is satisfactory. The total cost of all contracts already awarded is USD 131.48 million, which represents 88.01 percent of the IDA funds available for the project (based on current SDR to USD exchange rate). There are no outstanding audit reports.
