Republique du Cameroun - Projet de Developpement des Secteurs Urbain et de l'Approvisionnement en Eau : cadre de gestion environmentale et sociale (CGES) (French)

The general objective of the project is to help the Government and the municipalities to obtain a strategy and tools allowing for the improvement of access to urban services (including water supply) by the poorest populations in under-served districts of the following five cities: Douala, Yaounde, Bamenda, Mbalmayo and Maroua. Some of the negative impacts of the projects are as follows: pollution, accidents, difficulty of access to certain areas; difficulties in renting; and various costs to the community. Some of the mitigation measures will be: contractors will follow the regulations, panels at the building site will be also useful, all possible alternatives to expropriations will be considered, streets will be lit, solar energy installations emplaced, and regular water analysis will be instituted.
