The development objective of the Emergency Services and Social Resilience Project for Jordan is to help Jordanian municipalities and host communities address the immediate service delivery impacts of Syrian refugee inflows and strengthen municipal capacity to support local economic development. Negative impacts include: lack of community information, accidents, air pollution, noise, loss of human life in accidents, obstructions in natural drainage systems, loss of vegetation, and debris. Mitigation measures include: (1) erecting signage with details of project, cost of project, projected length of project, and contact details; (2) applying environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines specific to construction; (3) providing artificial drains if natural drains are being diverted; (4) designing appropriate restoration model; and (5) undertaking site-specific construction debris management and removal plan.
