Energy sector management assistance program : 2011 annual report (English)

The Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) is a global knowledge and technical assistance program administered by the World Bank. It provides analytical and advisory services to low and middle income countries to increase their know how and institutional capacity to achieve environmentally sustainable energy solutions for poverty reduction and economic growth. ESMAP helps its clients achieve access to reliable, affordable, and modern energy services by connecting global experts with policymakers, carrying out in depth energy sector assessments at the national and regional levels, and building an ever growing body of knowledge on effective responses to energy challenges. At the same time, ESMAP informs a wide range of the World Bank lending and technical assistance in the energy sector. Through this work, ESMAP has had a lasting impact on energy regulations, institutions, and programs in developing and transition countries around the world.
