Georgia - Second Regional Development Project : environmental assessment - Strategic environmental, cultural heritage, and social assessment (English)

The development objective of the Second Regional Development Project for Georgia is to improve infrastructure services and institutional capacity to support increased contribution of tourism in the local economy of the Imereti region. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) improvement of pollution control and enforcement systems in country and in the region; (2) development of waste management system, administrative structure, infrastructure and facilities, management plans, and capacity building programs; (3) environmental management plan (EMPs) and landscaping for industrial projects; (4) support cultural heritage (CH) protection and conservation programs; and (5) minimize negative impacts through implementing proper environmental impact assessment (EIA) and environmental management system (EMS).
