China - Guangdong Province Social Security Integration and Migrant Training Project : environmental codes of practice (Chinese)

The objectives of the Guangdong Province Social Security Integration and Migrant Training Project for China are to support rural-urban integration through: (i) supporting a social security system that promotes social equity and labor mobility by enhancing coverage, integration and portability; and (ii) piloting interventions to improve labor transfer through: (a) enhancing the quality and relevance of skills training offered by competent training institutions; and (b) empowering rural labor to choose among training institutions and skill areas. Being the main content of this environmental code of practice puts forward the basic requirements that the contractor in the building projects of the project should take environmental protection measures and conduct environment management. It covers construction site arrangement, campus management during construction, health and safety measures, prevention and mitigation for pollution of air, water and solid waste, soil erosion and disturbance, and restricted and prohibited activities or behaviors for environmental protection during construction, the countermeasures in case of discovery of preservable cultural relics, and external and public complaints receipt and rectification measures. Before construction, the construction units and supervisors shall take the training on relevant environmental protection and management. After the contractor signs the contract, environmental management plan for construction site must be stated in the construction plan before the construction begins. Provide all relevant on-job training for the contractor to avoid and reduce possible adverse impact on local environment and surrounding community.
