The Inner City Basic Services for the Poor Project (ICBSP) will assist Jamaica with small infrastructure improvements and service delivery in selected poor communities. Project components include, rehabilitation and upgrading of basic infrastructure; access to micro-finance; tenure regularization; public safety enhancement and capacity building; and support for project management. The project is designed on the basis of community driven development, and will be implemented through the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF), a government owned private company. The purpose of the acceptability assessment is to confirm that the implementation practices track record and institutional capacity of relevant Jamaican institutions in addressing environmental and involuntary resettlement issues in the proposed ICBSP are acceptable and meet the requirements stated in the Bank Policy.
