First Annual meeting of the Board of Governors address by Eugene Meyer, President of the IBRD (English)

This address by World Bank President Eugene Meyer was given on the occasion of the presentation of the First Annual Report by the Executive Directors, submitted to the Board of Governors at the first annual meeting, September 1946. The speech details the happenings from 1944 to 1946 as well as touching on the founding of the World Bank. At the time of the speech three letters requesting loans had been received, but properly documented applications had yet to arrive. He touches on the receipt of subscriptions, the securities issue, and the recruitment of staff.
