The objective of the additional financing to the 2nd Agricultural Technology Project is to improve the availability of and the access to high quality seed, in order to increase sustainably agricultural productivity. The project's three components aim to support the poverty reduction for sustainable development, respecting the culture of the communities of the Miskito people who will benefit from the Project. The project development objective is to provide households and rural communities greater access to sustainable agriculture, forestry and natural resource management, administrative services and innovations thus stimulating higher agricultural productivity. The aim of the project is aligned with the objectives of PRORURAL to promote development and improve access to agricultural technology as a key factor in agricultural development. Accordingly, the Project will: (i) improve technological innovation and adoption of agricultural technologies and Forestry, and (ii) modernize and strengthen the institutions involved in PRORURAL. The potential for fulfilling the safeguard of Indigenous Peoples is high if the project complies with the activities under the program for Indigenous Peoples. No significant adverse effects are expected to indigenous communities from the Project.
