Le systeme educatif Burundais : Diagnostic et perspectives pour une nouvelle politique educative dans le context de l'education primaire gratuite pour tous (French)

Burundi is emerging from a decade of economic and social decline resulting from the violent civil conflict of the 1990s. A peace and reconciliation accord was signed in 2000, and the political transition ended successfully in 2005 with the approval of the new Constitution and the holding of communal and parliamentary elections. This paper includes the following headings: the global social-economic context; global analysis of schooling; system costs and financing; Internet efficacy and the quality of services offered; the economic and social external effectiveness of education; the aspects of equity and distribution within the educational system; and issues regarding management of the educational system.
