Vietnam - Dam Rehabilitation and Safety Improvement Project : indigenous peoples plan (Vol. 2) : Ethnic minority development plan (English)

The development objective of the Dam Rehabilitation and Safety Improvement Project for Vietnam is to support the implementation of the government dam safety program by improving the safety of prioritized dams and reservoirs as well as to protect people and assets of the downstream communities. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) conduct extensive consultations before disseminating information to ethnic minority communities affected; (2) the relocation or recovery intact tombs and cultural works should be carried out according to the traditions of the affected peoples; (3) the contractor should work closely with local government to ensure the construction of the camps for workers and take into account factors that prevent and reduce the risk of negative impact on the daily lives and activities of ethnic minority people; and (4) undertake appropriate construction plan in order to minimize the water cut during entire construction.
