West Bank and Gaza - Gaza Solid Waste Management Project (Vol. 3) : Environmental and social management plan - Consolidated assessment (Southern and Northern parts) (English)

The development objective of the Solid Waste Management Project for West Bank and Gaza is to improve solid waste disposal services in the middle and southern Gaza Strip. Negative impacts include: loss of soil; air, water, and noise pollution; loss of land; loss of birds; affects public health; and risk of flora and non-avian fauna. Mitigation measures include: In the case of finding any culturally valuable object during excavation works, the works should be stopped by the contractor and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities should be contacted to handle the site. If the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities asked for prolonged holding of excavation works, the following Cell could be excavated instead so as not to cause disturbance to the waste filling plan. In case of chance-finds the type of object, location of finding, photographs of the object and the followed procedures to handle the object should be reported to the Project Management Unit (PMU).
