The development objective of the Changzhi Sustainable Urban Transport Project is to improve transport mobility in the central city of Changzhi in a safe, sustainable, and efficient manner for all users. Negative impacts include: landscape would be damaged; dust, soil erosion, landscaping, land occupation; construction wastewater and solid waste would cause pollution in the river; noise pollution; and traffic safety. Mitigation measures include: 1) construction wastewater containing a lot of soil and grease, should be sediment before discharge into municipal pipeline, prohibiting direct discharge into surface water; 2) prohibit the operation of machinery with high noise and vibration during the noon, use machinery with low noise or adopt noise barrier methods like isolation and fence whereas possible; 3) sprinkle water on the transportation road, reducing dust as much as possible; 4) proper arrangement for construction time and location, for high noise construction, keep away from the sensitive receptors; 5) prevent dust pollution by fencing the site during construction period; 6) construction waste is prohibited to use as fuel for heating; and 7) make plans for traffic diversion and temporary access roads.
