Maldives - COVID-19 Emergency Income Support Project : Additional Financing (English)

The development objective of Additional Financing for COVID-19 Emergency Income Support Project for Maldives is to mitigate the economic impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis on workers and their families, and to increase the capacity of social protection programs to respond to future emergencies. This paper requires the approval for an additional financing (AF) in the amount of 21.6 million US dollars equivalent. The AF aims to be applied entirely to Category 1 to cover the cost of extending the Income Support Allowance (ISA) program. The scale-up of the ISA program under this AF supports Pillar 2 of the World Bank’s COVID-19 Crisis Response Approach Paper, protecting the poor and vulnerable.
