The objective of the Second Beijing Environment Project for China is to support visible and sustained alleviation of air and water pollution in Beijing by helping to: (a) convert scattered coal-fired boilers to natural gas boilers; (b) promote energy conservation in heating systems; (c) construct key wastewater trunk interceptors and associated treatment facilities; and (d) strengthen environmental management institutions in Beijing.
