Bosnia and Herzegovina - Road Infrastructure and Safety Project : restructuring (Vol. 2) : Data sheet (English)

The objectives of the Road Infrastructure and Safety Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina are to reduce user costs on the priority sections of the trunk and regional road networks, to improve the institutional framework for road safety, and to modernize road maintenance practices. There is significant progress with the development of the institutional framework for road safety, with the approval of entity level road safety strategies, and the establishment in the Republika Srpska of a road safety agency. Modernization of road maintenance practices is progressing more slowly, with a pilot output and performance based maintenance contract signed in March 2010 in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The requested reallocation is required to finance the remaining road sections under the rehabilitation of roads component of the project. Rehabilitation costs have been higher than estimated during project preparation, and the additional funds will serve to complete the program of 241 km of road rehabilitation.
