The study draws conclusions about the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) systems of the 28 ECA countries - highlighting their strengths and deficiencies - and it recommends actions for the World Bank, not only to improve its internal processes vis a vis preparation and supervision of projects that have environmental impacts, but also to assist member countries to improve their own EIA systems.
