The development objective of the Emergency Crisis Response Project for Yemen is to provide short-term employment and access to selected basic services to the most vulnerable; preserve existing implementation capacity of service delivery programs; and provide emergency cash transfers to the poor and vulnerable in response to the food crisis. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) use dust control measures onsite, such as water spraying for dust suppression; (2) cover lorries transporting friable construction materials and spoil; (3) provide adequate protective wear for workers, and equipment must be maintained regularly to avoid any emissions; (4) regular inspection and examinations for impacts and address them through maintenance replacement of materials spoiled; (5) for handling and occupational health applying strict protection regulation for occupational health measurements is critical and a site-specific management plan is required-including all operational stages from handling, washing, classification, freezing, backing up to loading and distribution to consumption; (6) maintain records and procedures for equipment maintenance, handling, and storage of liquid fuels and chemicals; lab regular testing for ground and surface water; (7) encourage drying mechanisms to avoid stagnant water; (8) frequently inspect the cistern for leakage and the houses for expected damages from leakages; and (9) avoid creating congested and unsafe road conditions at intersections, and in villages and towns.
