Multi Donor Fund for Aceh and Nias : investing in institutions - sustaining reconstruction and economic recovery : four years after the Tsunami : Multi Donor Fund for Aceh and Nias : investasi pada institusi - keberlanjutan rekonstruksi dan pemulihan ekonomi : empat tahun pasca Tsunami (Bahasa (Indonesian))

The Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDF) for Aceh and Nias was established by a group of international donors in response to the Government of Indonesia's request for coordination and support for the reconstruction and rehabilitation in Aceh and Nias following the tsunami and earthquake disaster in late 2004 and early 2005. The MDF has approximately US $ 692 million in funds from 15 different multilateral and bilateral donors. The MDF supports the Government of Indonesia's master plan in the rehabilitation and reconstruction process. As the reconstruction process progresses, priorities have shifted from emergency reconstruction to ensuring the sustainability of reconstruction investments and promoting economic development. In order to ensure sustainability, the MDF has prioritized its efforts in two areas during 2008: (1) supporting the transition from Badan Rehabilitasi dan Rekonstruksi (BRR) to local governments, and (2) enhancing the long-term economic development of Aceh and Nias. The MDF has been extended to December 2012 to ensure implementation continues to meet critical needs of the reconstruction. The extension allows the MDF to ensure that the recovery is institutionally, financially and socially sustainable and continue to play a critical, multi-faceted role in the recovery of Aceh and Nias.
