The purposes of the environmental assessment report are to: 1) forecast the short- and long-term adverse environmental impacts of the project; 2) adopt a series of protection measures so as to eliminate or/and minimize the adverse environmental impacts during the construction and operation periods; 3) establish the environmental facilities and carry out environmental monitoring as well as supervise the implementation of protection measures; and 4) calculate the investment needed for environmental protection. The study analyzes the impacts of the project on: forests, mineral resources, wildlife and conservation areas, scenery and aesthetics and farmland. The study also discusses the impacts of the environment on the transmission line such as: unfavorable geological conditions, high elevations, heavy icing, air pollution, and forest fires.
