China - Xinjiang Aksu Pig Farm Biogas Project : environmental impact report (English)

The objective of the Xinjiang Aksu Pig Farm Biogas Project for China is to reduce methane emissions from livestock waste through a carbon finance transaction between the World Bank and Aksu Sanjing Breeding Company. Negative measures include: exhaust, waste water, noise pollution, and solid waste. Mitigation measures include: a) water-saving measures should be adopted in this project in order to protect water resources in the project area, guarantee project water intake within exploiting range reasonably exploit groundwater and not influence volume of groundwater resources in project area; b) to reasonably arrange construction progress during project construction period so as to minimize construction influence on local residents and their living environment; c) to reasonably dispose solid waste discharged from the farm, avoid unfavorable influence of wastes and residues on human body, water body, soil, vegetation, and animal; and d) to enhance control of noise pollution source on construction site. When loading or unloading metal materials, it is required to lift and place them with care and avoid rough operation and generation of man-made noise pollution.
