As a means of assessing progress towards this goal, the Bank compiles a variety of social indicators incorporating data from the countries themselves in accordance with national definitions, or from specialized international agencies which deal with food, education, health care, etc. This paper includes the following headings: . using social indicators of development; datasources; definitions of social indicators; country reference groups; and Social Indicator Data Sheets (SIDS).
