The Third Annual Meeting of the Participants of the Pilot Program to Conserve the Brazilian Rain Forest provided evidence of broadening political support in Brazil and internationally for protecting the world's largest remaining tropical forests. The wide representation at the meeting, which took place in Bonn, Germany on September 10-12, 1996, also reflected the broad-based participation and support for the Pilot Program. One of the meeting's conclusions was that the Pilot Program may well serve as a model for other collaborative international endeavors on global environmental issues.
