Pacific Islands - Pacific Islands Regional Oceanscape Program : Environmental assessment : Environmental and social management framework (English)

The Pacific Islands Regional Oceanscape Program of the Pacific Islands aims to improve environmental and resource quality in the region to increase the economic benefits produced by the sustainable management of the region's coastal and oceanic fisheries. Mitigating measures include: strengthen community-based management (CBM) systems and locally managed marine areas network (LMMA) approaches, support, equipment and training provided to participating communities for natural resource management and strengthen monitoring control and surveillance MCS activities and MCS activities. Environmental impacts of the project include: minor impacts from construction of small-scale infrastructure, potential increase in use of marine protected areas, and change in natural resource management/use.
