This regional assessment provides a cross-country snapshot of the status of women in the energysector of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It reviews the constraints and opportunitieswomen face in access to energy jobs, career decision-making, and professional development. The assessment was prepared for a wide audience of stakeholders that includes public and private agencies, utilities, energy companies, academic institutions, nongovernmental organizations, associations, and civil society networks focused on advancing gender equality and diversity in the energy workforce. It aims to provide an analytical reference to underpin the call to boost women’s status in the sector. Next steps toward collaboration and collective action are proposed.
