Bosnia and Herzegovina - Irrigation Development Project (Inglês)

Ratings of Irrigation Development Project for Bosnia and Herzegovina were as follows: outcome was satisfactory, Bank performance was moderately satisfactory, and monitoring and evaluation quality was substantial. Some of the lessons learned include: (i) Site selection should take into consideration agricultural value chains; (ii) There is a need for selecting context specific design or intervention options at project sites; (iii) Local partnerships should be built into the implementation arrangements; (iv) Irrigation projects designs should include on-farm improvements including secondary and tertiary systems to ensure delivery of irrigation services; (v) There is need for flexibility in the institutional arrangements for the management of the schemes adopting an approach that is tailored to municipal characteristics; and (vi) There is need for a policy or master plan to guide investments in agricultural water.
