Moldova - District Heating Efficiency Improvement in Chisinau Project : environmental assessment : Environmental impact assessment and environmental management plan (Inglês)

The District Heating Efficiency Improvement in Chisinau Project for Moldova supports supply-side priority investments aimed at optimizing and modernizing the heat distribution network for better and more efficiency supply of heat and hot water to end-user consumers in the Chisinau Municipality. Negative impacts include: noise, dust, air pollution, water quality, soil erosion, waste management, and loss of ecology. Mitigation measures include: dust generated from asphalt removals, earth excavation, loading, hauling, and unloading; dust generated by the movement of vehicles and heavy machinery on unpaved access and haul roads; significant increase in noise is expected during works, due to various construction and transport activities; the solid wastes generated from the construction are old pipes, abandoned construction materials, scattered sands/stones, concretes and domestic wastes; a significant increase in noise is expected during underground heating pipe replacement, due to various construction and transport activities. Construction facilities and equipment will include excavators, stabilizers, concrete mixers, drills, rollers, poker vibrations, concrete pumps, loading machines, and other heavy machineries; and when carrying out welding or cutting pipes will get splinters of iron that will impact on the ground. The same soil pollution can be from oil spills from transport equipment and machinery used in the work that contain oils.
