India - Karnataka State Highways Improvement Project : resettlement action plan (Vol. 5) : Resettlement action plan : Raichur and Bijapur Town bypasses (Inglês)

This is a resettlement plan for the Karnataka State Highways Improvement Project. The resettlement policy addresses the direct and indirect impacts of project construction and operation on affected persons, families, households, communities, and groups. The most direct and immediate impacts are those associated with project construction, mainly land acquisition. Other losses include loss of shelter, and other assets within the project's corridor of impact as well as roadside structure, business establishments, and public facilities. Mitigation is provided through compensation and assistance to project-affected persons. These social units are entitled to compensation and assistance on the basis of this policy framework adopted by the project. Mitigation is provided for loss of assets, including land and house or workplace; loss of livelihood or income opportunities and collective impacts on groups, such as loss of community assets, common property resources, and others. The people likely to be affected by loss of assets and livelihood will be surveyed and registered, and project monitoring and evaluation will compare long-term impact against baseline socio-economic data. Mitigation and support mechanisms for those affected by collective impacts are collectively-oriented, and these efforts will be monitored to examine the impacts and benefits for the groups involved.
