The objective of the Private Sector Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Project is to help increase privately owned and operated energy production from indigenous renewable sources within the market-based framework of the Turkish electricity market law, enhance energy efficiency, and thereby help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The changes consist of: 1) categorization of small Hydroelectric Power Plants (HPPs) changed from 'emerging renewable energy' to 'commercial renewable energy', 2) additional environmental and social safeguards requirements, 3) reallocation of funds, 4) update of the applicable World Bank procurement guidelines to the latest edition, and 5) revised results framework.
