The Industrial Project for Japan will assist in the modernization of four industrial companies. The first two are Mitsubishi Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Ltd. and Ishikawajima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., both major producers of ships and marine engines. This project will allow these two companies to become more efficient in the production of diesel engines and superchargers, and other engineering products. The third project is The Nippon Steel Tube Co. Ltd. which is the largest producer of pipes and tubes in Japan, and the nation's third largest steel producer; the project will allow the company to install a new 120,000 ton seamless tube mill to replace two obsolete mills. The last company of this project is the Toyota Co. Ltd. which makes cars, trucks and buses; the project will allow the company to modernize its truck and bus production with quality improvements and cost reduction. The above projects when put into operation will benefit the Japanese economy by improving its competitive position in export markets.
