Armenia - Electricity Transmission Network Improvement Project : Environmental Assessment : Environmental Management Plan for Rehabilitation of Ararat-2 Substation (Inglês)

The development objectives of the Electricity Transmission Network Improvement Project (ETNIP) for Armenia are to enhance the readiness of the High Voltage Electric Networks (HVEN) and Yerevan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) to implement ETNIP, and to strengthen the capacity of HVEN and Yerevan TPP. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (i) installation and fixation of cranes in a stable position to prevent their tipping or spontaneous displacement under the action of its own weight, and the engine; (ii)closing the engine covers of generators, air compressors and other powered mechanical equipment during operations, and placing of equipment as far away from residential areas as possible; (iii) purchase of construction materials from the registered providers; (iv) adequate technical condition of vehicles and machinery; (v) no excessive exhaust; (vi) washing of cars and construction equipment outside the construction site or on maximum distance from natural streams; (vii) timely disposal of wastes to the formally designated locations; (viii) arrangement and maintenance of toilets in compliance with sanitation norms at the construction site; (ix) watering of roof sheets during removal to minimize dust generation; and (x) preparation of toxic waste for on-site storage through placement in containers and full labeling.
