Togo - Etude sur la revue des politiques et des strategies pour la relance du secteur prive (Francês)

This paper points out that Togo, since the early 80s, has implemented as part of the process of adjustment and restructuring of its economy, several programs whose results did not restore the balance of macroeconomic aggregates. The rate growth has rarely exceeded that of the population since 2000 reflecting amplification of the scourge of poverty in the country especially among rural people who constitute a significant proportion of the population. In this context, particular attention was paid to promoting the private sector, the engine of economic growth, through a vast program of economic reforms for reducing poverty. However, this sector still faces some major problems that have been subject to critical analysis in this study and whose purpose is the proposed reforms and appropriate solutions for the rehabilitation and recovery of sector activities. The main problems identified are institutional, regulatory, legal, market, production, marketing, access to capital, competitiveness, etc. This review of political and economic recovery strategy fits into the vision of Global government and development partners that believe that Togo could come from its long socio-economic crisis that has paralyzed the development at all sectors. The adoption by Togo of an appropriate strategy for recovery and development of private sector opens up better opportunities for growth and improvement of living conditions of the populations. For this option, the country could well benefit greatly from globalization and regional integration.
