Myanmar - National Community Driven Development Project : Environmental Assessment : Addendum to Environmental and Social Management Framework : Contingency Emergency Response Component (Inglês)

The development objective of the National Community Driven Development Project for Myanmar is to enable poor rural communities to benefit from improved access to and use of basic infrastructure and services through a people-centered approach and to enhance the government’s capacity to respond promptly and effectively to an eligible crisis or emergency. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) maintain a buffer zone (such as open spaces, row of trees, or vegetated areas) between the project site and residential areas to lessen the impact of noise to the living quarters; (2) cover with topsoil and re-vegetate (plant grass, fast-growing plants and bushes and trees) construction areas quickly once work is completed to avoid soil erosion; (3) minimize dust from exposed work sites by applying water on the ground regularly; (4) separate as best as possible concrete works in waterways and keep concrete mixing separate from drainage leading to waterways for good water quality and availability; (5) train workers on correct transfer and handling of fuels and other substances and require the use of gloves, boots, aprons, eyewear, and other protective equipment for protection in handling highly hazardous materials; (6) provide personal protective gear for workers as necessary (gloves, dust masks, hard hats, boots, goggles); and (7) no cutting of trees or destruction of vegetation other than on construction site.
