Afghanistan - Rural Access Project : environmental assessment (Inglês)

The Afghanistan Rural Access Project will scale up the activities supported under National Emergency Rural Access Program (NERAP) and will assist the client in secondary and tertiary road rehabilitation. Negative measures include: soil erosion, waste management, water pollution, air pollution, dust, loss of natural habitat, and ecology. Mitigation measures include: a) reuse of cut material in hill roads; b) protection of embankment slopes in case of alignment on embankments; c) conduct of hydrological investigations during project preparation; d) protection of land on hill side from stability loss due to cutting; e) protection of lands on valley side from debris due to construction; and f) scheduling construction activities as per water availability.
