Liberia - Smallholder Tree Crop Revitalization Support Project (Inglês)

Ratings of Smallholder Tree Crop Revitalization Support Project for Liberia were as follows: outcome was moderately satisfactory, Bank performance was moderately satisfactory, and monitoring and evaluation quality was modest. Some of the lessons learned include: (i) due consideration must be given to the country’s context in deciding the project scope and implementation arrangements; (ii) ensuring that the staff skill sets on the project team are fully aligned with the project objectives and related activities is critical to successful project implementation; (iii) engaging in extensive upfront consultations/negotiations to agree on prerequisites with potential partners is required, particularly with the private sector and in an fragility, conflict and violence (FCV) context; (iv) good timing and sequencing of project activities is important to ensure outcomes can be achieved and lessons learned; and (v) following the framework approach for environmental and social safeguards, sub-projects of similar characteristics in the same region should be combined under one environmental and social management plan (ESMP).
