Philippines - Manila Second Sewerage Project : environmental impact assessment (Vol. 10) : Initial Environmental Examination of Project no. 8 ; Maharlika medium rise housing, Taguig, Metro Manila (Inglês)

The Manila Second Sewerage Project aims to improve the quality of sanitation services, reduce environmental pollution and lessen health hazards from wastewater in Metro Manila. These objectives are expected to be realized by a sustained septage management program, rehabilitating/upgrading the existing sewerage systems and improving street drainage. These are to be complemented by a laboratory & equipment support and institutional strengthening of the sewerage sector. This program has resulted in a package of projects with the following objectives. Health objectives are to reduce exposure of population to: 1) sewage in and round homes and streets; 2) sewage and industrial wastes on the beaches; 3) waste in the esteros and rivers; and 4) disease from consuming contaminated shellfish. Ecosystem objectives are to reduce waste loads to: 1) esteros, rivers and Laguna de Bay; 2) Manila Bay near shore; and 3) Manila Bay offshore. These objectives resulted in the planning and implementation of several services and infrastructure projects in septage management and sewage treatment plant and system rehabilitation. Volumes 3-25 consist of the initial environmental examination reports for the subprojects.
