Burundi - Coffee Sector Competitiveness Support Project : environmental assessment (Vol. 2) : Plan de lutte integree antiparasitaire (Francês)

The long-term objective of the project is to promote a coffee sector that contributes tosustainable development of the country and the fight against poverty. The specific objectiveto the project is the increase in coffee production in quantity and quality by improving the productivity of the coffee orchard; upgrading stations for washing; and the strengthening of the coffee sector. Negative impacts can be seen in the preparation of nurseries, planting, and cutting for coffee regeneration. In Burundi, the use of chemical fertilizers remains very low and the application of these fertilizers will have no negative impacts on the environment. To improve fertilization, fertilizers should be combined with organic fertilizer. Since coffee fertilizers can be used for crop development there is a risk that the fertilizers for coffee are allocated to other cultures.
