Kenya - National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project : integrated pest management framework (Inglês)

The development objective of the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project for Kenya is to increase agricultural productivity and profitability of targeted rural communities in selected counties. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) apply recommended insecticide or botanical extract timely; (2) timely planting to escape damage, scout the crop, apply lambda cyhalothrin if necessary; (3) early planting recommended resistant varieties for example, TMV-1 in areas below 1500m above sea level, Kilima ST and Katumani ST and Staha; (4) timely planting, crop rotation, clean seeds, reduce density, allow adequate aeration; (5) early clean weeding, use recommended herbicides if necessary; and (6) field sanitation including burring of crop residues and removal of volunteer plant.
