Chile - Social Protection Technical Assistance Project : indigenous peoples plan (Espanhol)

This Indigenous Peoples Plan (IPP) reflects ethnic concerns, as contained within the framework of the Social Protection Technical Assistance Loan Project, which supports the Government's social program "Chile Solidario". Such program aims at raising the level of efficiency in targeting assistance towards the most vulnerable, and excluded populations, mostly ethnic, or indigenous populations. This IPP comprises three sections: a) General background, and Government's policy concerning indigenous populations; b) the second section identifies, and describes specific activities implemented through social programs targeting the most vulnerable groups; and, c) the third section details the specific actions to be taken within the project, targeting ethnic, and indigenous populations, in particular. It describes the different indigenous groups, living conditions, cultural aspects, including income generation, education levels, and household conditions. Based on surveys, and public consultations, this IPP sets the framework to ensure indigenous populations benefit from the project, and have access to quality education, health care services, and in addition, presents the labor issues both in rural, and urban communities.
