Malawi - Lilongwe Water Project : resettlement plan : Resettlement action plan for Diamphwe multipurpose dam and associated structures ESIA and RAP (Inglês)

The development objective of the Lilongwe Water Project for Malawi is to increase water availability in Lilongwe and strengthen the capacity of Lilongwe water board to plan future investments and deliver improved water services to its customers. Some of the negative impacts and mitigation measures include: (1) support will be provided by the community leaders and district councils in identification of alternate land; (2) cash compensation will be payable for those losing main dwelling houses or parts of residential structure such as toilet, kitchen, shed, and kraal; (3) cash compensation will be payable for those losing structures and lost business; (4) size of trees being lost will be considered in the valuation as the bigger trees will attract high rates; (5) replacement and restoration or augmentation of existing infrastructure based on identified need and to sustain pressure of affected facilities (AFs); and (6) project affected persons (PAP) to report to village level resettlement grievance management committees to resolve issues.
