Andrew Burns

Manager

ANDREW BURNS is a lead Economist and Manager of the Forecasting and Monitoring Team in the Development Prospects Group. The team is responsible for the monitoring global economic and financial developments and producing the World Bank's twice annual global forecasts -- released as Chapter 1 of Global Economic Prospects and Global Development Finance. Previously Mr. Burns was task manager of the Global Economic Prospects and macroeconomic advisor to the Director of the Prospects Group.

Before joining the World Bank, Mr. Burns worked with the OECD, where he provided policy advice to the governments of France, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. He also led the evaluation of labor market policies in each of the organization's 30 member countries in ther context of the OECD's Jobs Study.

Prior to joining the OECD, Mr. Burns worked at the Economic Council of Canada where he wrote on labour market and macroeconomic issues. Mr. Burns holds degrees from the University of Manitoba and McGill University in Canada.
